  • West Bend Library Recreation Center Grand Opening

    West Bend, Wis. (February 25, 2021): The City of West Bend is proud to unveil the new Library Recreation Center located in the lower level of the West Bend Community Memorial Library. The remodeled space is now an indoor hub for community use, instructional programs, and activities for all ages and abilities.
     
    “This collaboration with the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department has expanded our ability to offer new programs and increase program availability throughout the year,” said Steve Thiry, Library Director. “We are excited to welcome the community to this new space and encourage exploration of the library while on site.”

    Library Recreation Center Phase 1 construction began in the spring of 2020. Completed amenities include:
    • Infrastructure (HVAC, electrical and plumbing)
    • Lobby Area
    • Dance and Exercise Studio
    • Multipurpose Room
    • ADA Compliant Restrooms
    • Water Fountains
    “The Library Recreation Center project is made possible thanks to the generosity of individuals and community organizations,” said Mike Jentsch, Parks, Recreation and Forestry Director. “We are grateful for their support of our youth programs and recreation facilities!”

    Library Recreation Center donors include the Rose and Chuck Johnson, West Bend Early Risers Kiwanis, and West Bend Friends of Parks and Recreation. Additional financial support is provided by Spotlight Productions Community Theatre and the Dark Star Band.
     
    Recreation programs are now available in the Library Recreation Center. Current offerings include adult ballroom dance, women’s group exercise classes, youth dance classes, and tumbling and gymnastics.
